Dr. Suess Fun

We spent the week celebrating Dr. Seuss's birthday.  Here are some of our pictures.

On Monday Mr. Halter visited our classroom and read us Green Eggs and Ham.  He did a great job!
We made Cat in the Hats and wrote if we would like The Cat in the Hat to come to our house!

Wednesday was Wacky Wednesday.  Our classroom and clothes were WACKY!

There were shoes ON THE WALL just like in the book.

The posters were upside down!
Look at our wacky outfits, inside out and backwards clothes and our mismatched shoes!

In Reading Group, we used the Cat in the Hat cam!

Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!

Bonus Jump Chance!!!

Let's Cheer for Writing!

Last week the fourth graders took the Florida Writes test.  They worked very hard to be prepared for their big test!  The day before the test they had a pep rally.  We were there to cheer them on when they went back to class.

Here is what our poster looked like.

I am sure the 4th graders did AWESOME on their test!!

Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day!  Our class is sooooo sweet and kind!  I loved hearing the "thank you's" and other kind words when we exchanged Valentines on Friday.  Here are a few pictures!

Some of us chose to make Valentine Cards for senior citizens at "Sr's Are Us" during Level Time last week.  They made us Valentines as well!

President's Day

Do you know how tall Abraham Lincoln was?  He was 6'4" tall.  We thought that was REALLY tall.  Then we got to see how tall he really was and compare ourselves to him with a life-size Abe Lincoln poster!  If he was wearing his tall hat, he would have to duck to get into our classroom.

That is only one of the many facts we discovered about Honest Abe as we have been learning about why we celebrate President's Day.   First graders, want to earn a bonus jump?  TEACH your parent something YOU learned about Abe Lincoln.   Parents,  leave a comment below telling me what your child taught you.  You can earn bonus jumps through Friday!

Blue Springs Field Trip

We had a great field trip to see the manatees at Blue Springs.  It was cold and windy but thankfully the rain stopped as our bus pulled into the parking lot!  Even though there were only a few manatee in the springs, we LOVED seeing the gentle giants, especially the momma and her calf.  We also saw an alligator and lots of fish!
I am looking forward to our next field trip!
