What a FUN week in First Grade

We had a busy but fun week!  We learned about Johnny Appleseed.  Did you know he was a real person??!?!?!?  First graders do now!  On Friday we wrapped up our Johnny Appleseed and Five Senses units by writing Apple Poems using our Five Senses! Some of our poems are in a video below.  What a yummy way to wrap up.

On Thursday we went to the cafeteria for an assembly called The Miracle of Science.  The lady did some really cool science investigations for us.  Our very own Jacklin even got to be a helper!

Reading Groups are going great.  All Reading Teachers are now sending home a Reading Bag with homework.  Look for it Monday through Thursday evenings.  Please return it daily with EVERYTHING in the bag.  If you are in Miss Gilbert's Reading Group, tell your parents about Author's Purpose and what PIE means....First Graders are getting so smart!

Looking forward to another fantastic week.  Tuesday is picture day!  Wear your smile:-).
