Storybook Character Pumpkin Project

Attention First Graders!

It is time for First Grade's Storybook Character Pumpkin Project!  Here is the letter that was sent home with October Homework.

Follow the links below for some ideas or check out our pictures from the last few years:

Our goal is for families to have fun with this homework project.  We encourage families to help with the pumpkin, but please make sure the pumpkin is mostly completed by your first grader.

Remember- NO carving and make sure your first grader can carry the pumpkin without any help!

Have Fun!

Week Three

We have been busy working on our procedures and routines. In Reading, we have been building our Read to Self stamina. We are up to 8 minutes!!!!!
In Science we finished up learning about different types of scientists. We conducted an investigation when we learned about chemists.
In Math we have been subitizing. Subitizing is a big kid math word that means looking at a set of items and knowing how many there are without counting each item in the set. We practiced with dots. After we became experts we subitized and added one more. We got so good, we were able to subtract one. Subitizing is a great activity for you to practice at home! (Dice are great to start with.)

A few reminders:
  • Monday is Picture Day. All students will be having their pictures taken, but if you want to purchase any you must prepay. You can send in money with the order form envelope that was sent home last week. You can also pay online (before Monday).
  • Being on time every day is VERY important. I pick the students up in the cafeteria between 7:45 - 7:50. We walk to our classroom, unpack and immediately leave for Special Area.
See you Monday!
