Last week the fourth graders took the Florida Writes test. They worked very hard to be prepared for their big test! The day before the test they had a pep rally. We were there to cheer them on when they went back to class.
Here is what our poster looked like.
I am sure the 4th graders did AWESOME on their test!!

Valentine's Day
Happy Valentine's Day! Our class is sooooo sweet and kind! I loved hearing the "thank you's" and other kind words when we exchanged Valentines on Friday. Here are a few pictures!
Some of us chose to make Valentine Cards for senior citizens at "Sr's Are Us" during Level Time last week. They made us Valentines as well!

President's Day
Do you know how tall Abraham Lincoln was? He was 6'4" tall. We thought that was REALLY tall. Then we got to see how tall he really was and compare ourselves to him with a life-size Abe Lincoln poster! If he was wearing his tall hat, he would have to duck to get into our classroom.
That is only one of the many facts we discovered about Honest Abe as we have been learning about why we celebrate President's Day. First graders, want to earn a bonus jump? TEACH your parent something YOU learned about Abe Lincoln. Parents, leave a comment below telling me what your child taught you. You can earn bonus jumps through Friday!

Blue Springs Field Trip
We had a great field trip to see the manatees at Blue Springs. It was cold and windy but thankfully the rain stopped as our bus pulled into the parking lot! Even though there were only a few manatee in the springs, we LOVED seeing the gentle giants, especially the momma and her calf. We also saw an alligator and lots of fish!
I am looking forward to our next field trip!

How many days have we been in first grade????
How many?
Almost 100! WOW!
We will be celebrating the 100th Day of School on Friday. We will be spending the day doing reading, math and science activities that relate to the number 100. Be sure to look at your homework closely this week so you will be prepared for our celebration on Friday!
(I wonder if Zero the Hero will visit or leave special treats with his helper.)
Also.....since we are almost 100 days into the school year, we are running out of supplies. Our classroom is in need of hand sanitizer, tissues and crayons! We greatly appreciate anything you can send in.
